PRICES FOR RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS AND UNIVERSITIES
For contractual reasons, RADAR use is currently restricted to publicly funded research institutions and universities in Germany. The use of RADAR requires the conclusion of a contract between your institution and FIZ Karlsruhe. The contract has a minimum term of three years and is automatically renewed for a further year if not terminated. Usually, one contract per institution is sufficient, as there are no restrictions on users, work areas or data sets
The use of RADAR as a data centre for archiving and/or publishing research data is invoiced annually. The invoice consists of a basic annual contract fee and a usage-related fee. The latter varies depending on the RADAR services used:
For archived data, costs are incurred within the selected retention period (5 / 10 / 15 years) each year. The costs are based on the archived data volume. In the event of termination, archiving of the data by RADAR shall end at the end of the contract. The institution can download its data beforehand and store it with another service provider.
For published data, costs are incurred only in the year of data publication as a one-off payment. The costs are based on the published data volume. RADAR guarantees the reliable storage of published data for at least 25 years, even in the event of contract termination.
The temporary storage serves to process and review research data. The basic annual contract fee includes - sufficient for most purposes - 200 GB of temporary storage. If required, additional temporary storage volume can be provided for a fee.
If you archive or publish more than 50 terabytes with RADAR, we will reduce the use-dependent prices while at the same time increasing the basic contract fee. The changed prices then apply to the entire stored data volume. We automatically calculate the prices for large data volumes from the moment they are cheaper for your institution.
