The repository contains:
1-simulations: Bash scripts for retrieving and processing IFS data as initial and lateral boundary conditions for use with the ICON model. Also included are ICON simulation run scripts and simulation log files.
2-preprocessing: Scripts for preparing the ICON simulation data for analysis, including:
-
remapping_icon_output: Bash scripts for interpolating ICON model output onto different grids.
-
era5_data_processing: Script for fetching and processing ERA5 data.
-
calculating_diagnostics: Jupyter notebooks for calculating diagnostics (cyclone tracks, WCB object identification, and PV error growth diagnostics).
3-plots4paper: Jupyter notebooks for the analysis and figures produced and used in the paper.
4-archiving: Bash script for archiving simulation data on the Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) system at the German Climate Computing Centre (DKRZ).
Users will need to adapt the directory paths to their own local infrastructure.
The raw ICON simulation outputs are archived on the HSM at the DKRZ.
The 1°×1° remapped ICON data used for most of the analysis and figures in this paper are published on RADAR4KIT ((DOI) 10.35097/zq3w0pg313utucnk)
