As part of the characterization of the new fungal species Cortinarius mapuveronicae from Patagonian Nothofagus forests, several anthraquinonoid secondary metabolites were identified through chemical analysis. A notable feature is the intense red coloration of the basidiomata. This color is attributed to a newly identified anthraquinone pigment, clavorubin-8-O-methylether (1).
In addition to this novel anthraquinoid compound, several known monomeric and dimeric anthraquinones were detected: (+)-7,7-Emodinphyscion (2), Emodin (3), Emodin-6,8-di-O-methylether (4), Questin (5), (+)-(S)-Skyrin (6), (+)-(S)-Aurantioskyrin (7), Hypericin (8), Dermolutein (9), Endocrocin (10).
